For a transitional period until January 2009, the noted scholar of cultural sciences, Prof. Dr. Werner Heinrichs (currently rector of the University of Music and Arts in Stuttgart) was elected as new chairman. He stepped in for this intermediate period because of the sudden death of the former chairman Prof. Dr. Martin Pfeffer. Prof. Dr. Heinrichs is also spokesman of the the rectors conference of Baden-Württemberg. Prof. Dr. Manfred Cordes (rector of the University of Arts Bremen) and Prof. Jörg Linowitzki (vice-president of the University of Music Lübeck) were elected as vice-chairmen. Prof. Jörg Linowitzki and Prof. Dieter Mack - New Vice-presidents

During its last session, the senate of the University of Music Lübeck has elected Prof. Jörg Linowitzki and Prof. Dieter Mack as new vice-presidents for the next three years. They complete the presiding committee of four persons together with the president, Prof. Inge-Susann Römhild and chancelor Jürgen R. Claußen. By that, the university applied its new possibility (given by the new academic legislation) to install up to three vice-presidents. This election is a logic consequence of the increasing burdens caused by the structural changes in regard to the new Bachelor- and Master programs. During its term of office, the presiding committee will have special attention for international relations and wil increase its position and presence in public as well as in national and international media. Jörg Linowitzki, professor for double bass has already been vice-rector since 1997. Dieter Mack is professor for composition since 2003.
