The President's Office is the University's governing body and represents it externally.

University Senate
The Senate is one of the central organs of the University. It carries the responsibility for all matters of fundamental importance which concern the University as a whole (in particular the adoption of resolutions concerning the Charter, approval of target agreements with the ministries, determination of the budget).
The Senate consists of 13 representatives from all member groups of the University of Music Lübeck.
The members according to groups (election of 20th December 2006):
University Council
5 honorary members belong to the university Council of the Lübeck University of Music.
Its tasks include among others:
the statements concerning the draft of the University Constitution and the University budget,
recommendations regarding the generation of the University profile, the focal points of the teaching and the academic curriculum as well as further tasks regulated in the Higher Education Act of the country of Schleswig-Holstein.
