The Bachelor of Arts will be introduced in winter semester 2008.
It is anticipated that the current School Music studies which lead to the German qualification of First State Exam for Secondary and High School Teachers, will be replaced by the combination of Bachelor of Arts and Master of Education.
The Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) takes 4 years.
It qualifies for a wide range of professions, as the training is very comprehensive and the options also allow for the creation of an individual study profile. The central aim of the B.A. is to provide the expertise required to impart musical knowledge. Studies therefore include many practical elements and opportunities to gain practical experience. Those who aim to become a music teacher at a grammar school must successfully complete the subsequent Master of Education course in order to qualify for admission into the teaching profession.
