The Advanced Course in Instrumental Music is open to particularly talented graduates of the Diploma study course who wish to intensify their instrumental music studies.

Course of Studies

The studies concentrate on instruction in the main field of study on the chosen instrument and participation in the University Orchestra. The examination consists of a publicly performed concert.

Further Admission Requirements for the Entrance Audition

Artistic Diploma with a final result of at least "good" (2.3)

Requirements for the Entrance Audition

Applicants are expected to prepare a very challenging programme of at least 60 minutes in length. The works must be chosen from various style epochs including the 20th century. Examples (not compulsory pieces) for the required degree of difficulty would be:

Piano

Beethoven: Sonata op. 57

Schumann: Kreisleriana

Ligéti: Etudes

       

Violin

Mozart: a concerto of choice

Brahms: concerto

Bartók: Sonata No. 1 or 2

An appropriate degree of difficulty must be applied for other instruments.
