Preparatory Program
The Institute for Early Music Education, also known as Preparatory-School, offers highly talented young musicians (up to the age of 19) the possibility to take lessons with the renowned instructors of the University of Music Lübeck.
In order to be accepted into the preparatory-school, an entrance audition must be passed which includes an aural test, rhythmic clapping, the repetition of a melody and the performance of two personally chosen works from differing epochs in the field of the chosen main field of study.
The instruction encompasses the main field of study on offer at the university in addition to Piano as a secondary subject and Aural Training and Music Theory. An examination is held once a year in which an etude and two pieces are performed (total length 20 minutes). The date for this examination is announced by the director six weeks in advance. The preparatory-school children are given the opportunity to take part in short internal or public performances.
The fee for one semester is at present 383 euros, and for instruction in the secondary subject Piano 191.50 euros. Instruction in the subjects Music Theory and Aural Training is free of charge.
