Performances
The University of Music Lübeck is the largest concert organiser in Schleswig Holstein. During the semester there are, at times, several organised events daily. Class performances, examination concerts, opera performances, performances by instructors and public lectures arouse great public interest, as does the Brahms Festival Lübeck, which is held each year over a period of eight to ten days and which has achieved national acclaim. Audiences take great pleasure in their visits to our concert halls with their acoustic and architectural excellence and, in so doing, support the University.
Once a year the competition for the Possehl Music Prize, which is generously donated by the Possehl Foundation, is held at the University. An international Buxtehude Organ competition has also been established in Lübeck. It is sponsored by the Sparkassenstiftung (Savings Bank Charitable Foundation) and will be held for the first time in 2007.
