Description

Artificial intelligence has now reached the practice of songwriting in many ways: it can write lyrics, create sounds or enable automated processes in digital audio workstations (DAWs). In the workshop, participants will have the opportunity to learn about various use cases, try them out for themselves and reflect on and discuss the didactic implications for music teaching.

What does the availability and ubiquity of various AI tools mean for music education? This workshop explores the following questions:

• How is music education changing as a result of the use of generative AI by teachers and students?
• What skills do teachers need to be able to respond adequately to these profound changes?

The workshop will present different types of AI (e.g. large language models, image and sound-generating models), how they work and their didactic potential based on UNESCO recommendations. The practicality of the tools for use in music lessons will be reflected upon and discussed together.

Getting to know a key teaching method from other subject areas and adapting it for music teaching

Target group

All music teachers in all types of schools Description: This workshop is aimed at music teachers who want to adapt their repertoire of methods to the requirements of the 21st century on the basis of research. The aim is to familiarise teachers with the concept of »peer instruction« – a concept that has proven itself in STEM subjects and places Socratic dialogue between peers at the centre of learning processes. The teacher flexibly assumes the role of initiator, learning guide and moderator. Participants also have the opportunity to test the necessary skills for working with specific software and hardware and to design and implement application-supported teaching/learning scenarios themselves.

Casual immersion in making music together with digital musical instruments

Target group

All music teachers from all types of schools for whom digital music-making is more than just playing with iPads Description: Every second Tuesday of the month, the Lübeck University of Music invites interested music teachers to casual jam sessions. Here, participants can explore making music with digital instruments in a playful way, with or without instruction. Numerous exciting instruments are available for this purpose, ready for immediate use at perfectly coordinated music stations. This offer is aimed at music teachers who want to broaden their musical horizons and exchange ideas with colleagues.

Target group 

All music teachers from all types of schools who want to broaden their horizons in terms of »digital music practice«.

Description

In this interactive workshop, participants will learn about hybrid music practices that combine digital and analogue sound generators. The focus is on:

• the integration of physicality,
• the exploration and transformation of familiar sounds through digital sound design, and
• the connection between technology and creativity.

Training formats

• Basic course: Introduction on a training day at your school or at the »Digital Learning Campus« in Lübeck.
• Compact weekend: Teaching basic and advanced practices over a weekend. The aim is to enable participants to use the music stations independently.
• Practical course: We accompany you and your colleagues at your school over a period of 6 to 8 weeks. Prerequisite: Participation in a basic course or compact weekend.
