Twice a year the MHL invites to its "Young Musical Theater" in the Great Hall of the MHL and in the Kultur- und Bildungszentrum (KuB) in Bad Oldesloe. Students of the vocal classes present the results of their scenic work with renowned directors in the context of their vocal studies.
"...Liebe, bist du!"
Scene quartet with mini Schubertiade How do we love? In four short operas from the last 100 years, MHL students portray types of human love and relationships with each other. In Gian Carlo Menotti's ménage à trois The Telephone is constantly busy at Lucy's. This forces her prospective fiancé Ben to choose the right connection, until finally it is love's turn. Already arrived at married life, Helene escapes the jealousy murder of her husband Robert in Paul Hindemith's sketch with music Hin und zurück only thanks to temporal reversal. In songs by Franz Schubert, lonely heart-thieves stagger through hot and cold love scenarios with romantic interruptions, only to lose themselves drunk with longing in Vito Žuraj's monodramatic Schubert paraphrase Schub'rdy G'rdy.
