FAQ

  • What should I keep in mind when entering the MHL buildings?
    Since 15.9.2021, a 3G proof (tested, recovered, vaccinated) must be provided when entering the MHL. The negative test result must not be older than 72 hours (3 days). For events, the negative test result must not be older than 24 hours. The wearing of a mouth/nose protection and a minimum distance of 1.5 metres is recommended. Medical masks (FFP2 or surgical masks) are recommended. Everyday masks, e.g. those made of fabric, do not have the same effect as medical masks. Further information can be found in the hygiene guidelines and the hygiene concept, which university members can download from MHLnet. In principle, external persons may only enter the university buildings with a 3G certificate. Access to the building is exclusively via Große Petersgrube and must be documented by means of a card reader at the gate. The way to the exit is signposted and is located in the Depenau. There, too, leaving the building must be documented by means of a card reader (except for employees of the university administration). Access to the other MHL buildings is documented using the LUCA app. Self-documentation through the LUCA app or the routing slips is suspended.

  • Who do I contact with questions about vaccination?
    If you have any questions about vaccination, please contact impfen@remove-this.mh-luebeck.de. You can also use this address to register for vaccinations. Please note that only the following vaccines are licensed in the EU: BioNTech/Pfizer, Moderna, AstraZeneca and Janssen Pharmaceutica NV.

  • What should I keep in mind if I am travelling from another country to Lübeck?
    All inbound travellers please consult the information page of the state of Schleswig-Holstein. There you will find a link to multilingual information on the subject of Corona. If in doubt, you can obtain information about the current situation from the Health Office of the Hanseatic City of Lübeck or via the Corona hotline T: 0451-122 2626.

  • What should I do if I have a positive test result or if I suspect I am infected with COVID-19?
    If you suspect infection, report immediately to your local health department and inform the Presidential Office (T: 0451-1505 128). Follow the instructions of the health office. Do not enter the MHL until a negative test result is available (if the Health Office orders a test). Conduct classes digitally or participate in classes online. If the test result is positive, do not enter the MHL under any circumstances and follow the instructions of the Health Department. Please report immediately by email or telephone to the Presidential Office (T: 0451-1505 128), as every Corona case must be reported to the Ministry. In this way, it can also be tracked whether you were previously present at the MHL and what contacts you had there. Also report in case you were not at the MHL.

  • What if I am unable to attend classes due to the Corona crisis?
    If you are unable to continue your studies due to a lack of technical facilities or travel restrictions, please contact your director of studies to find individual solutions.

  • How or to whom can I apply for a postponement of my examination?
    As a rule, you must apply for a postponement of an examination to the responsible director of studies and give the appropriate reasons for the postponement.

  • Do the previously specified deadlines for the submission of term papers and theses apply?
    Yes, although extensions of deadlines are possible in justified cases and upon application (e.g. problems with research, impossibility of practical work components, etc.). These are to be applied for with the responsible directors of studies.

  • When will there be public events again?
    On 13 June, the MHL opened its doors again for events. All visitors (also university members) are asked to register via a ticket. Registration for the concerts at Villa Brahms is via mail tickets.brahms-institut@mh-luebeck.de. Further requirements are a 3G certificate (tested, recovered, vaccinated), whereby the negative test result must not be older than 24 hours. Wearing a mouth and nose protection up to the assigned seat is recommended. Hygiene rules must be observed. For out-of-town events, including concerts of the "Wir in" series, please observe the regulations of the organisers on site.

  • Can I rehearse with my chamber music ensemble or with piano accompaniment?
    Chamber music rehearsals and lessons are permitted in the rooms approved for this purpose with the number of people permitted. Reservations at raumreservierung@remove-this.mh-luebeck.de

  • Where can I get support with technical problems?
    In Moodle there is the possibility to get instructions and improvement solutions with existing equipment and to exchange ideas. If you have further questions about working with Moodle and the didactic conception of digital teaching formats, please contact Fabian Bade. Information on office hours can be found on MHLnet.

  • What about the loan periods of my borrowed media from the library?
    The loan period for media borrowed in the winter semester 2021/22 ends on February 15th 2022. Please clean up your user account on this date and return any media still borrowed. All renewable media from the last semester were automatically renewed until this date.

  • How can I get hold of literature in the meantime?
    The library will be open from 4 October at the following times: Monday – Friday 10am – 1pm and 2pm – 5pm.

  • How do I get the scores for the orchestra projects?
    You can find scores for the orchestra projects exclusively online in MHLnet in the group "MHL-Orchestra".

  • Can I be taught at my lecturers' homes?
    No, as a matter of principle, no classes may be held at the lecturers' homes, not even in this exceptional situation!

  • Is it possible for students to absorb a loss of income caused by the Corona crisis with an emergency loan or grant?
    Yes, it is possible to apply for short-term support at any time to the Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation as well as to the MHL's Supporters Association. In addition, the state of Schleswig-Holstein has increased the Studentenwerk's loan fund for distressed students by 100,000 euros.

  • Are there additional funding opportunities in Lübeck?
    A compilation of various funding opportunities can be found on the website of the Kulturtreibhaus Lübeck.

  • Where can I get psychological support?
    For initial counselling in emergency situations, Christian v. Streit is available as a contact person at T: 0451-1505 118 or by mail. The psychological counselling service of the Studentenwerk can be reached at T: 0451-3101 2980 or by mail. The contact person is Lucia Domke.

  • How do I reach the Studentenwerk and in particular the BAföG Office Schleswig-Holstein?
    The counselling centres and the BAföG offices are closed to visitors until further notice. Access is only possible by prior arrangement. Please contact us by phone or mail.

  • How do I reach the Social Counselling Service of the Studentenwerk Schleswig-Holstein?
    The Social Counselling Service can be reached by phone at T: 0451-3101 2981 or by mail. The contact person is Stefanie Prüss.

  • How do I reach the Student Advisory Service?
    Prospective students can contact the MHL Student Secretariat. The Student Secretariat can be reached by e-mail and telephone, on-site appointments are only available by arrangement. Students of MHL please contact their directors of studies.

  • How can I get in touch with the student representatives?
    You can contact the presidium of the student parliament by mail as well as the AStA by mail at any time.

  • Is the canteen open?
    The canteen at the MHL is open Monday to Friday from 11am – 2pm with a reduced offer.
