MHL Recording Studio

Blick auf ein Mischpult

The MHL offers students support in the areas of recording, new media and sound reinforcement in various studio and media rooms as well as on stage. Outstanding student achievements and special musical performances at the university are documented and, if necessary, published on the university's own sound recordings. The aim is for students to gain practical experience in sound recording and music production and learn how to make their own recordings. The MHL recording studio also offers courses in sound studio technology, sound reinforcement and multimedia.

Students in the composition class develop their own compositions in the electronic studio and perform them at concerts. In addition, the MHL also supports the creation of application or competition demos. The large recording studio specialises in classical and acoustic music. Thanks to its connection to the two concert halls, a wide variety of music can be realised in a ‘natural acoustic’ environment. In addition to classical music, jazz is also recorded here. The pop studio offers several recording rooms. A visual connection around the central control room provides optimal conditions for pop and rock recordings. The electronic studio is designed as an experimental studio. In addition to state-of-the-art computers and mixing consoles, exotic and dinosaur-like synthesizer technology from the early days of electronic music is also available. The PC pool offers several Mac and PC computers with the latest multimedia equipment. Apart from classes in new media and software, students can also work comfortably here on their own.
