Young Music Academy

The Young Music Academy Schleswig-Holstein (YMASH) talent development program will start again in 2026 at the Lübeck University of Music (MHL). Over five weekends, it offers music-loving young people and their instrumental teachers the opportunity to take a look behind the scenes at the MHL, participate in masterclasses with MHL lecturers, attend exciting workshops, network with other musicians, and perform together in concerts. The registration deadline is January 10, 2026.

YMASH is once again inviting young people aged between 12 and 19 to gain an insight into music education. This time, the free offers are aimed at young musicians who play the harp, double bass, viola, or violin, as well as their instrumental teachers. Whether in individual lessons, chamber music ensembles, varied workshops, or concerts, participants will have the opportunity to work with MHL lecturers and students, make contacts, and gain valuable experience. The instructors are Prof. Gesine Dreyer (harp), Prof. Sergio Sánchez (oboe), Prof. Maria Egelhof and Prof. Heime Müller (violin), Prof. Lena Eckels (viola),
and Prof. Sophie Lücke (double bass).

The YMASH workshop weekends begin on February 7 and 8, 2026, with courses for harp, viola, and double bass. This will be followed by courses for violin and oboe on April 18 and 19, and harp, viola, oboe, and violin on June 6 and 7. Two weekends, on which all instrumental groups participate and also perform together, on July 4 and 5 and September 26 and 27, will conclude YMA.SH. The project is being carried out in cooperation with the Schleswig-Holstein Center of Excellence for Music Education (KMB.SH) and is funded by the state of Schleswig-Holstein, the Marie-Luise Imbusch Foundation, and the Possehl Foundation.
