
Angela Firkins, born Tetzlaff, studied with Jean-Claude Gérard (Hamburg), with William Bennett (Freiburg) and with Paul Meisen (Munich). After several first prizes in the competition "Jugend musiziert" (Youth Makes Music), she received a prize at the German Music Competition in 1985 and in 1986, 1st prize at the competition of the German Universities. As a member of the Albert Schweitzer Quintet she won numerous competitions (ARD Competition, German Music Competition, among others). She received the prize of the German Record Critics, produced several CDs and radio recordings and gave concerts at home and abroad. After long membership in the National Youth Orchestra, the Young German Philharmonic Orchestra and the Youth Orchestra of the European Community, she was the solo flautist of the Hamburg Symphony Orchestra from 1988 to 1993 and 1994 the solo flautist of the Radio Symphony Orchestra NDR Hannover. 1997 she was appointed as a professor at the MHL.
