The MHL offers three types of refresher courses:

  1. Full-time preparatory studies for applicants preparing for the entrance examination at the MHL or another music college
  2. part-time for musicians who have completed a university degree and wish to further their education while working or starting their career
  3. part-time or full-time bridging programme for applicants who do not meet the entry requirements for the Master of Education in »Music Education« based on their previous studies.

 

Pre­pa­ra­tory studies (full-time)

Target group

  • Applicants preparing for the entrance examination at the MHL or another music college.

Duration

  • 1 to 2 semesters 

Cost per semester

  • 1,550 euros tuition fee

Tuition entitlement

  • 1 SWS individual tuition in the main subject
  • Additional costs are incurred for additional subjects (individual and/or small group tuition) and longer HF tuition.
  • Attendance at existing group courses (seminars and lectures) and use of the library and practice rooms are included. 

Final document

  • The MHL issues a certificate for the courses completed.

Application for admission

  • Informal application to the Vice-President for Teaching via the main subject lecturers.

Admission

  • The MHL Presidium decides on admission.

Part-time (in ex­cep­tio­nal cases also full-time)

Target group

  • Musicians with a university degree who wish to further their education in their profession or at the start of their career

Duration

  • Open-ended (new application per semester)

Cost per semester

  • 1,650 euros tuition fee

Tuition entitlement

  • 1 SWS individual tuition in the main subject
  • Additional costs are incurred for additional subjects (individual and/or small group lessons) and longer HF lessons.
  • Attendance at existing group courses (seminars and lectures) and use of the library and practice rooms are included. 

Final document

  • The MHL awards a certificate for the courses completed.

Application for admission

  • Informal application to the Vice-President for Teaching via the main subject lecturers

Admission

  • The MHL Presidium decides on admission.

with bridge func­tion (part-time or full-time)

Target group

  • Applicants who do not meet the admission requirements for the Master of Education double major (lateral entry) based on their previous studies.

Duration

  • 1 to 2 semesters

Cost per semester

  • 1,550 euros tuition fees without individual lessons
  • Individual lessons additional 350 euros per 0.5 SWS

Teaching entitlement

  • 1 SWS individual lessons in the main subject
  • Additional costs are incurred for additional subjects (individual and/or small group lessons) and longer HF lessons.
  • Attendance at existing group courses (seminars and lectures) and use of the library and study rooms are included. 

Final document

  • The MHL awards a certificate for successfully completed courses and examinations. 

Application for admission

Informal application via the main subject lecturers to the Vice-President for Teaching for a planned start

  • for the winter semester: by 20 September
  • for the summer semester: by 20 March

Admission

  • The MHL Presidium decides on admission.

Ap­p­li­ca­ti­ons for ad­mis­si­on

Applications should be submitted informally via the main lecturers at the MHL to the Vice-President for Teaching (email: vize-lehre@mh-luebeck.de). The MHL Executive Committee will decide on admission.

Deadlines

  • 20 September for admission to the winter semester
  • 20 March for admission to the summer semester
