Concert exam (Course of study)
As a foundation for a career as a soloist, the Concert Exam degree programme offers exceptionally gifted musicians an additional course of study that corresponds to level 3 of the Qualifications Framework for German Higher Education Qualifications (KMK resolutions of 21.4.2005 and 16.2.2017).

Course of studies
In addition to the main subject lessons (4 x 1.5 semester hours per week) on the chosen instrument, the curriculum includes compulsory participation in academic seminars in at least two semesters, each comprising 1.5 SWS. The Concert Exam degree programme consists of two public concerts, one of which may be a concert performance with orchestra.
Admission requirements for the qualifying examination
Entitlement to study is demonstrated exclusively by a special artistic aptitude. This proof requires a Master's degree or diploma relevant to the main subject or a comparable degree, stage or concert experience as a soloist in the main subject.
Requirements in the Qualifying Examination
In the qualifying examination, a programme of the highest difficulty with complete works from various epochs, including the 20th and 21st centuries, is expected. The programme must comprise at least 90 minutes (string instruments, piano) or 60 minutes (wind instruments, percussion) of music. A video must be submitted with the application for participation in the qualifying examination procedure. Information on this can be found here.
Final Examination
The final examination consists of two parts. The first part consists of a recital lasting 90 minutes. Two programmes must be submitted for this recital, one of which will be selected three months before the concert date. The programmes must include works from different epochs, including the 20th/21st century. The second part may include a solo concerto with orchestral accompaniment. Two programme proposals must also be submitted for this concert. In the event that the university is unable to offer an orchestral concert, a second recital must be performed. In this case, the unselected programme of the first final part may be reused as one proposal.
