Further education programme "Elementary Music Education"
Actively creating music with children, young people or senior citizens: this creates powerful and lasting experiences. Working with people who have little previous experience, who are yet to discover and explore their potential for musical expression: this requires well-trained, artistically sensitive and pedagogically professional teachers. Why study EMB part-time?

Part-time further education programme "Music in Social Work / Community Music"
Music plays an important role as a social practice in the most diverse living environments and cultural contexts. There is special communicative potential in the shared use of music, which can be profitably developed and used for many fields of action and work in social work. The two-semester academic further education programme concludes with an internationally recognised Certificate of Advanced Studies (15 ECTS) and qualifies participants to develop, implement and reflect on music offerings in the field of social work in a diversity- and context-sensitive manner. A balanced combination of digital formats and attendance phases offers a high degree of flexibility in terms of time and space for an in-service further qualification at university level.

KMB.SH
In the Competence Centre for Musical Education in Schleswig-Holstein (KMB.SH), an association of the MHL, the State Association of Music Schools, the Nordkolleg and the Institute for Quality Development at Schools in Schleswig-Holstein (IQSH) under the umbrella of the State Music Council of Schleswig-Holstein, funded by the State of Schleswig-Holstein for three years, will be established at the Nordkolleg in Rendsburg from 2021. In a three-year pilot phase (2021-2023), the KMB.SH is to be developed into the centre of the musical education landscape. A further education and training landscape for all musicians and multipliers in the academic and non-academic sectors will be created, as well as the centre for the promotion of gifted musicians. One of the tasks of the KMB.SH is to improve the permeability of the search for young and talented musicians as well as the promotion of gifted and talented musicians through central coordination.

Further MHL offers
For teachers with a practical musical background, the MHL offers interesting further training courses in the field of brass education within the framework of the "Norddeutscher Querflötentag" (North German Flute Day) and the "Young Brass Academy" (Great Brass Day Schleswig-Holstein).
Specialist days on elementary music education and instrumental and vocal pedagogy are aimed at music teachers, social pedagogues, educators and students of the MHL and interested parties with workshops and lectures.
We would also like to refer to the "Creative Days of Church Music": an offer that is aimed at prospective students as well as church music students and experienced church musicians.
