Inclusion as a cross-cutting issue

The concept of the "Teaching Music" degree programmes follows the basic idea of integrating inclusion-specific competencies as a cross-sectional task in as many courses as possible. In addition, the InclusionCampus forms an explicit focus of the teaching offer for this area. Further emphases can be set individually in the Bachelor of Arts and Master of Education. The qualification goals in the area of inclusion are formulated as overarching competencies for the degree programs "Teaching Music" (see Qualification Goals).

Legal basis
"Pedagogical and didactical basic qualifications in the subject areas of dealing with heterogeneity and inclusion as well as the basics of support diagnostics, continuous language training and the teaching of media competence are to be integrated into all teacher training courses. (Teacher Training Act Schleswig-Holstein, §12, Para. 2)

InclusionCampus
The Inclusion Campus consists of three pillars:

  • Block event in the first third of the winter semester
  • Guest lectures/workshops linked to seminars (educational science, music education/-didactics) during the winter semester
  • One-day "conclusion" at the end of the winter semester

The InclusionCampus is the central input in the area of teaching for the field of "Inclusion" and is linked to the following modules/courses:

  • 1st academic year Bachelor of Arts: Introduction to Music Pedagogy/Introduction to Educational Sciences (MV-BA-EW/FD 1)
  • 3rd academic year Bachelor of Arts: Introduction to the school internship (MV-BA-EW/FD 3)
  • 1st academic year Master of Education: Educational Sciences - Seminar "Priority Topics" (MV-MED-EW/FD)

The InclusionCampus is also open as an elective event for students of all courses of study and years.

In a three-year cycle, the central development areas are addressed:

  • 1st year: Sensorimotor skills Year
  • 2: Emotionality and sociability
  • 3rd year: Language and thinking (cognition)

In addition, overarching thematic priorities are integrated, including giftedness, gender and interculturalism.

All relevant subject areas can be covered up to the Master of Education degree. For each new cycle, different thematic emphases are set with different lecturers and thematic emphases on the respective developmental emphases, so that (voluntary) participation in events on the same topics is additionally meaningful and can serve to build a personal profile in the field of inclusion.

The InclusionCampus is regularly evaluated:

  • Format: Online questionnaires
  • Objectives: Survey of previous knowledge, attitudes and needs on the part of the students, evaluation of the perception and effectiveness of the course

Inclusion in the Bachelor of Arts
The InclusionCampus is an obligatory part of the introductory courses in educational science and music pedagogy (MV-BA-EW/FD 1) as well as in the preparatory seminar for school practice in the 5th semester Bachelor of Arts (MV-BA-EW/FD 3). The introductory internship (Bachelor of Arts) can take place at an extracurricular, special educationally relevant institution, e.g. a support centre, child and youth psychiatry, social education institution.

Inclusion in the Master of Education
The InclusionCampus is an obligatory part of the educational science seminar "Priority Topics 1" in the Master of Education. The six-week block internship (internship 1) can take place at an inclusive school. One of the two term papers in Educational Science can be written in the area of "Heterogeneity/Inclusion/Diversity". In the research workshop, inclusion-specific questions can be made the subject of research. The Master's thesis (Educational Sciences or Music Pedagogy) can be written in the area of "Heterogeneity/Inclusion/Diversity".

By combining these offers, Master students can set an individual focus in the area of inclusion. The possibility of choosing an "Inclusion" profile within the double subject profiles in the Master of Education is also being planned.
