Instrumental and Vocal Pedagogy
The course is aimed at applicants who already have a (bachelor) degree in Arts and who want an additional instrumental or vocal teaching qualification.
Building on an artistic bachelor degree, this degree programme enables further consolidation of artistic development within the major subject by delivering the artistic competencies required to participate in professional concert performance. To attain the desired spectrum of skills suitable for educational/teaching occupations, students select an elective artistic subject for the entire duration of studies. Together with improvisation skills, vocal competencies (both singing and speaking) offer a variety of prospects within the field of musical education.
Enhancement and consolidation of instrumental and artistic abilities remain a core focus of the training. A broadening of instrumental skills is provided through the additional elective subject (additional instrument) with 0.5 SWS one-to-one tuition where further consolidation in the major subject (1.5 instead of 1 SWS) is not preferred.
The profile module offers a broad range of subjects to deliver the skills necessary for an aspired career as an instrumental/vocals teacher.
In addition to the subjects music pedagogy, teaching methodology/method and development psychology as well as insight into elementary music pedagogy EMP, one of the primary elements is improvisation, which accounts for 0.5 SWS of one-to-one tuition over 3 semesters. This is supplemented by 0.5 SWS of one-to-one vocal tuition over 2 semesters in addition to speech training.
2 semesters of orchestral/ensemble direction round off the degree programme, with the result that graduates are ultimately able to autonomously direct ensembles of all types.
Reference to future occupational spheres is afforded from the very start through intensive practical training.
