The University of Music Lübeck (MHL) is based on the simple yet brilliant idea of an orchestra in perfect harmony, where the ensemble is an overriding conceptual thought. We instead of us! Even though each of us is an individual, we reach an entire new level when it comes to our common passion: for music in our time.
Our goal is a comprehensive and equally excellent education. Teaching and learning as a synthesis of all areas of education. With a creative environment, we encourage a very personal musical and human maturity process as well as the promotion of individual, diverse, but also unconventional artistic development. We value the experimental spirit and revive the imaginative use of academic teaching and scientific spirit of discovery. Always personally supervised by our faculty, excellently supported by our state-organized team in scheduling and planning. The University of Music Lübeck is an international meeting place for students and lecturers. Due to an ever-increasing globally connected society, our large variety of cultures, beliefs and nationalities all come together. What unites us is the desire to work towards our future and for the music: together, with mutual respect and with the greatest passion.
We have cultivated our great cultural heritage since 1911. With our university, we offer the ideal basis for testing new paths and visionary ideas. This is the musical institution of the 21st Century – with a sharpened sense of social and cultural developments and the requirements of our time. The University of Music Lübeck is an important part in the musical life of Schleswig-Holstein and Germany. On the one hand, we prepare the future artists, music teachers and educators through state-of-the-art practical experience for their careers. On the other hand, we are the largest concert promoter of Schleswig Holstein, with over 300 concerts a year, from symphony concerts to opera to pop concerts. Lübeck pulsates. And we – the faculty, students and staff of the University of Music Lübeck – are the cultural, spiritual and sensorial elementary particles of the cultural life.
