The Zentrum für Lehrkräftebildung (ZfL) is a central institution at MHL that performs interdisciplinary tasks in the design, organisation and coordination of teacher training courses at MHL. The centre initiates and participates in teacher training-related research and development projects and links these to practical vocational training. In its work, the ZfL acts as an interface between the institutions involved in the training of future teachers in Schleswig-Holstein: from the Ministry of Education to the universities in Schleswig-Holstein and Hamburg, the Institut für Qualitätsentwicklung Schleswig-Holstein (IQSH) and the Kompetenzzentrum für musikalische Bildung Schleswig-Holstein (KMB.SH) to the schools.

  • Inter-university organisation and coordination of courses for teacher training programmes
  • Communication regarding the implementation of practical school-based, pedagogical, subject-specific didactic and subject-specific academic studies
  • Organisation of practical school-based study components and internship visits
  • Participation in the updating of study and examination regulations
  • Project management for the accreditation of study programmes in the field of teacher training
  • Participation in job advertisements that are involved in covering the range of courses offered in teacher training programmes
  • Advising applicants and participating in measures to attract them
  • Promotion of cooperation in educational research and teacher training institutions, the Institute for Quality Development, partner universities and schools
  • Participation in continuing education and training programmes for teacher training within the remit of the MHL
